  Breeder's Description - 'Thai-tanic'
A very compact Sativa variety, classic chocolate Thai smell and taste. The Skunk father dominates only in fast maturation, high yields and general vigour. A heavy crystal producer that is extremely potent with a trippy cerebral high.

This strain is a cross of TFD's Early Thai and Skunk #1. I germed 3 seeds and got 2 fems. They finished at about 80 days. I had to do some mid-flower topping on this one. It is an extremely stretchy Sativa, but it does seem to yield well. Didn't produce much smell during the grow. The smoke has a sp ...continued

I found Thai-tanic to be a pleasant strain to grow.

The plants were all very consistent in appearance and fairly compact. The leaves were dark green and indica-like during veg, with defined ridging and edges. The bud leaves were more sativa-like. The branches were long, straight, strong and laden with dense, sticky buds.

The plants yielded well for the conditions, averaging 4 oz each. I thought that good considering that I had some overcrowding going on during much of their flowering period.

The buds were chunky, with a good leaf to bud ratio and good resin production.

I vegged the plants until they were 20-24 inches and limited them to 3 gal pots. They were left un-topped and finished between 3 and 4 feet.

Out of 6 seeds started, all sprouted and three were females.

Unbeknownst to me one of the girls decided to take a walk on the wild side later in flower and got herself pretty well seeded, although she didn't mess with the rest of the room. Apparently this is not an unknown characteristic with this strain so keep a vigilant eye out, even later on in flower.

I like the Thai-tanic stone. I find the high to be cerebral and uplifting, without the tightness of chest and anxiety I get from some other sativa-heavy crosses.

My girlfriend notes an additional effect on my libido & associated equipment. "They should have called it Thai-agra" she says, waggling her eyebrows.

The taste is very different from the skunky/fruity buds I typically grow/smoke. It's very spicy and earthy, with woody undertones.

I look forward to growing it again in the future.

These plants were cabinet-grown.

Veg cab - a 2' x 4' box, 7' high with a fixed 1000w air-cooled MH SolarMax bulb. Space cooled by A/C, lights on temps 66 to 84, lights off temps 55 to 65. 18/6 lighting throughout veg.

Grown in soil - Black Gold All Organic. Hand watered.

Began feeding after second set of proper leaves. Fed every other watering with Pure Blend Grow, alternating occasionally with Fox Farm Grow Big and an occasional dash of Superthrive. Found 1 tsp/gal to be a bit more than these girls wanted in veg.

Repotted twice, going to a 1 liter poly can and then 3 gallon, continuing to use the Black Gold. Taking a page from the Book of BOG I added 1 cup blood meal, 1 cup bone meal and 2 tbsp lime per cu ft bag of soil for the final repot after sexing via preflowers.

Total veg time was 64 days, preflowers started showing in the last two weeks.

Flower cab was 9' x 3' closet, 8' high, 2 1000w air-cooled HPS on light rail (SolarMax and Hortilux). Space cooled by A/C, lights on temps 66 to 86, lights off temps 55 to 65. 12/12 lighting throughout flower. As many as 16 plants in there at once.

Ferts every other watering during flower. Pure Blend Bloom alternated with Fox Farm Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom. Again, found 1 tsp/gal to be more than they wanted.

Flowered for 78 days. I would have liked to let one go another few weeks to check out the difference but needed the space for something else. Next time...

I lost most of my grow data when my old PC died but here my Strain Guide grow report for Thaitanic from The Flying Dutchmen.

I germinated 5 seeds by giving them a 24hr soak then planting into a sowing compost mix. All sprouted in a few days and looked healthy.
At the 3-4 week mark they had skunk

I decided to give this strain report after giving the plant a real long cure time. I noticed when testing it right after harvest that I felt it had not reached it's full potential. The high was pretty quick, and the taste was harsh, and so was the smoke. But after a few monthes cure, Tha-Tanic turn ...continued
