Breeder's Description - 'Afghan' | | Originally this strain was imported from Afghanistan and selectively bred in Holland for indoor cultivation. Afghan has a strong acrid aroma. Greasy resin glands extend to the fat shade leaves. The smoke is heavy with a strong almost numbing buzz if raised and cured properly. This plant has a high flower to leaf ratio and good yield. Afghan is one of the original genetic lines used in many popular modern day hybrids.

| This strain produces quite nicely, especially in a SCROG application... I would recommend it to anyone wanting an easy to grow, nice yielding plant.

| Very good strain. Pretty much easy to grow. I didn't use much fert throughout the grow and the plant seemed to cope. After drying and harvesting for one week then curing for another week the buds were strong and sweet. After a few months they were very, very strong! The longer the better in my case! ...continued

| This was excellent weed, short, squatty, easy to grow plants. Smell was strong and pungent, taste was amazing. The plant do not appear to be very remarkable at first, look like bagseed, but they behave very well indoors and usually show sex at approx 4-5 internodes. I have never had a herm and I ...continued

| Very easy plant to grow in soil. didn't like hydro nearly as much as other varieties(sensitive to overfert).
Hashy taste without the cough. Too much couchlock for me but my wife just loved it! Mould resistant and not as tough as other indicas to clone. Very vigourous growth.
I have grown this strain in soil(5 gallon buckets of bog mix for 2 months of veg and two months of flowering) and in hydro(NFT in 4 inch square fenceposts for one month veg and two months of flower.
Do not put afghani in the same hydro setup as other strains as it was unable to use as much nutes as the other strains I grew that cycle(Bogglegum and Nirvana skunk)
Garden Information for this report I used Bog soil mix (Sam’s pride potting soil mixed with perlite, bone meal, and blood meal) in 5 gallon buckets. The bog mix is very airy and I jar tested the Sam’s pride and it was 50% compost with very little sand or clay content(I have had bug problems in the past from it though but its worth it). Veg for two months and flower for two months also. Fish emulsion for veg and Foxfarm BigBloom for flowering(fertilized every other week in veg and bloom). One week flush. Watered 2/3's from above with filtered water and 1/3 from below(amount of water for the top feed depends on the demand according to a soil moisture meter 4 inches into the soil). Hydro setup: NFT in four inch square PVC fenceposts. Foxfarm growbig(problematic) for veg. For bloom I used Pure Blend Pro with supplementation of Acadie seaweed extract (I highly recommend this fertilizer for soil and for hydro) given every other week alternated with nitrozyme (didn't notice much effect from this). Cannazyme used once(it cleaned the roots some but not as effective as spraying the roots with water from a spray bottle). I do not own a scale so I could not measure the yield per crop or per plant but this yielded as much bud as skunk#1 with denser buds that had less stretch. For both setups I used a 1/4 hp squirrel cage fan that I looted off of an old furnace by the side of the road and a store-bought 600w light with a sungro reflector from sunlight supply. The space used was different for multiple crops as I moved but averaged 1.5x1.0 metres. Mylar spaceblankets from the buck or two store were used for light conservation. Uvonair placed in the basement(where all the air was vented to) and pine sol in a glass on top of the reflector were all that was necessary for odor control. |

| Of 12 seeds, I had one that was female. I grew it outside in FULL sun, in Central Ontario, Canada. Big dark fan leaves were classic of this original Indica strain.
Beautiful full buds, (mine had purple flowers from the lower temperature outside) I grew with organic ferts, not much at that, an ...continued

| I finally dug up my old pics of my first grow. It was Afghan from Nirvana. I of course was a noob, and this is what I did. Started 2 seeds in paper towel and got 100% germ. Went on to using a lava lamp light bulb for the first week of veg. Needless to say I didn't get much growth. Then moved on to m ...continued

| Having always enjoyed a nice heavy indica, Afghan being in my top-5 fav indicas, it was Afghan I chose as my change of strain after just over a year growing G13 as my main strain, AK47, W/Russian, Mango x Heaven & 1 or 2 various other strains.
So I opted for a pack of regular Afghan, a nice hassl ...continued
