Breeder's Description - 'Chocolate Chunk' | | This is real candy. With a definitive kush bottom this pure Indica will melt in your mouth and stick to your hands. Thick, deep green leaves and fat dense buds will make every trip to the grow room feel like being, "a kid in a candy store." Chocolate Chunk is quite easy to grow due to it's quick flowering-time and "single cola" growth pattern. Works great with sea of green method.

Grower Report - Anushka on November 5, 2003, 4:26 am | Chocolate Chunk from T.H.Seeds rated 6.00 | 1 Image | 7/10 seeds germinated, 3 of which were female. Many of the seedlings showed strange twisted leaves, and some polyploidism. 2/3 females had the strange twisted leaves problem, and did not grow well, so were axed. The last remaining female appeared totally healthy—and this whole report is based on that one female.
If the phenotypic variations are similar to this one, I would say DO NOT top or FIM this strain. This plant is not a high yielder and would be better grown in a single main cola style. I ended up with a bunch of nice and beautiful, but thin colas. Very dense though!
This pheno had nice bud-leaf growth—very tight and crystal-covered. It was the best smelling plant in the garden (until day 35 or so when my Afhgani Special started to compete with its almost pure-lemon scent).
Finish time is pretty good. I did mine in 45 days with a variable flowering photoperiod which started at 11.5/12.5 for the first 30 days, dropped to 11/13, then to 10/14.
The stone is very creeper; lasts about 3-4 hours. Nothing special, but good enough (i.e. gets you stoned). Mostly body/emotional high with just a little mental effect. I was able to go to sleep on it pretty well.
Just based on my experience with this one plant, I don't intend to grow it again. It may make a good SOG strain due to its short flower time, but otherwise the yield isn't impressive enough for my tastes; there are better uses for the space...still, it's an enjoyable connoiseur strain because of its obvious chocolate-like smell & taste. It has good bag appeal too. The attached pic is day 14 flowering (didnt get any other pics because I dont own my own digi-camera).
Garden Information for this report 1000 watt Hortilux enhanced blue on a light mover. I used a soil mix containing Black Gold & Whitney Farms potting soils, earth work castings, dolomite lime, vermiculite, blood meal, bone meal, kelp meal, sand, and coco-fiber. No exact ratio; I just buy a bunch of stuff and threw it all together. All my plants ended up in 5 gallon containers. I used Peter's 20-20-20 for veg every 10 days, along with Maxicrop 1x a week, Superthrive every watering, and Endomicorizhae with every repotting. For flowering I switched to mostly organics, using Pure Blend Pro for soil & Liquid Karma every watering, Maxicrop 1x a week, and a little Superthrive here and there. |
