Breeder's Description - 'Island Sweet Skunk'
Mostly sativa. This Vancouver Island Sweet Skunk mama was grown on the Island for many years as a stabilized Sativa-Skunk cross. The ISS Stretches like crazy, up to 24" indoors and 60" come fall time outdoors. Sugary long buds with long, thick hairs, are sparse at first, but will fill as it elongates and begins to swell after the fifth week. The last two weeks will prodice a dramatic increase in bud density, don't cut early as the most thickening occurs during this finishing period. We've grown large plants indoors which need to be tied up by the 7th or 8th week due to the weight of the sticky ...continued

My grow partner (Matty Bong) and I (That Guy) purchased a pack of ten seeds from a local head shop/porn shop and started them indoors on May 3rd, 2004.

Out of the ten seeds, nine germinated. Each was planted in some high quality tropical soil in some small 4-5 inch square plastic pots and put under a 125 Watt arc tube light (produces about 12,000 Lumens) in a closet.

Each day the pots were rotated, to allow each plant a fair share of light, and were watered as much as three times a week. After they had been established they were fed standard seedling fertilizer (4-12-4) mixed with about 10-15 ml's of Hyrdrogen Peroxide (3%) per litre. In less than three weeks they were already on their seventh internode and strong enough to be transplanted outdoors.

The spot we chose was on the top of some bluffs, with little to no soil, and the soil that was there was far too acidic to try and grow in. We ended up using four-gallon pots for our plants, loaded with the same high quality tropical soil as before, and a layer of hydro-clay rocks on the top about 3-4 inches deep. They were then given a dose of transplant nutrients, and fed every 2-3 weeks with standard vegging nutrients (12-12-12) and the H20 mixture described above.

A few plants died over the summer because of the extreme heat (a few record highs were set here more than once and caught us off guard) and we had three males which were moved to a seperate location to continue growing, but out of the nine we had planted, three females were still growing strong.

We had bought and smoked some I.S.S. previously and fell in love with it, so our main goal this season was seed production, that's why we kept the males.

When flowering began we started feeding with standard flowering nutrients (15-30-15). Around mid flowering we collected the pollen from the males, chopped them down, pollenated our females, and made some decent oil (males have THC too!). We continued to feed the fems untill about three weeks before harvest was to arrive (nobody wants to smoke chemicals). They were finished flowering and harvested Oct 15th.

This strain flowers quite early, and produces some very inticing, sweet buds that'll make anyone drool. Nice yield with a very high potency (20% and up). This strain is obviously being grown again next year and I recommend you pick up a batch yourself. It'll make quite the addition to your collection.

*Note; When I say standard nutrients, I mean general nutrients that you can pick up at any nursery or garden center, as opposed to those brand name ones you can find in Hydroponics stores for $100+ per bag/bucket.

Marc Emery sent me ten of these seeds, out of those I have popped three, and got one good female. I have nothing bad to say about this highly wanted sativa plant except, the smell when growing is strong!!! So keep the fresh carbon filters at hand.
I did not vegg very long as it does grow tall, ar
