Breeder's Description - 'Northern Lights x Shiva' | | Northern Lights crossed with Shiva creates wonderfully pungent sweet buds with bountiful THC. This plant has high flower to leaf ratio. NL/Shi has a bit spicier smoke when compared to Northern Lights and has a more complex buzz. This strain is a timeless classic. NL/Shi has a exotic aroma, is relatively easy to grow and clone.

Grower Report - The White Rabbit on July 21, 2003, 5:05 pm | | 1 Image | Nirvana NLxShiva was a very nice variety to grow. They branch out quite nicely and often "top" themselves somehow just so they can grow more branches. This was very good for me and it provided for a pretty decent yeild.

| This was my first grow in 2001. NL x Shiva was a great place to start. The plants grew quickly and were very forgiving. I kept the pH around 6 - 6.2 (now I keep it lower). There was only a little diversity in phenotypes, all had fat, triangular leaves.
The males showed preflowers pretty early. I ...continued

| This is the first time I have grown this strain. I really was not sure what to make of this strain, but due to the f'up in my room I needed to drop a few more seeds to max the sq footage.
I dropped 3 seeds into cubes, germed and then planted directly into 2g pots. At the same time I also had 6 White Rhino's (Nirvana) starting too.
Of the 3 NL x Shiva's, I ended up with 2 male and 1 female. They were really strange starters compared to others that I have grown and with the WR right beside them. They were slow starters and were really dwarfed by the WR. They were developing branches and leaves just staying super low and squat.
After 6 weeks of veg, I flipped the room to 12/12. The little dwarf (5" tall) female I had went nuts when the lights were switched. It ended up being a 36" high when finished at 57 days 12/12 and was having trouble standing itself up - it kept wanting to tip over !
Overall it was very easy to grow and did not have any nute issues or anything. It also did not use much water, probably due to its bud-stick form.
It really smells great when you cut it up. Quite a sweet smell while at the same time a dank smell.
In the end, after 57 days 12/12 I ended up getting just over 1 oz of dried, trimmed and manicured primo buds. No popcorn buds were kept but rather put aside for some ice in the future.
Overall not too much yield but not too bad either considering their small statured at 6 weeks when I changed the light cycle.
The buds are quite sticky when chopping them up, but I am not complaining ! The smell is still fruity with a hint of skunk even after cure. All of the buds are quite frosty also !
During smoking, the buds are not harsh at all (I find some smoke can be more a tobacco taste). Very smooth, fruity flavor and pleasant to smoke !
From a potency point of view, I have had stronger but this is strong nonetheless ! I actually find this to work better than the WR I harvested at the same time. I have about 7oz of WR to compare it with and I will defiantly be saving and preserving my NL x Shiva for special occasions !
I have another 7 seeds left from my 10 pack and I will defiantly being starting up a few more in the fall when I start the room backup. I also have some other strains I will be starting in parallel.
Very much worth the $ to buy the seeds and the wait to harvest ! I would recommend this strain !
Garden Information for this report 4'x4'x5'h closet grow 400HPS used for both veg and flower Used Sunshine Mix #4 for the medium with a bit of worm castings and vermiculite added. Used Schultz super bloom for flower and Miracle Grow tomato food for veg. During the whole grow cycle, I also tried Mosta Bud from Ozi Magic. It seemed to cause them to stretch a bit more and made longer fatter buds. |

| 3 seeds germinated and 1 was female. She was average size with tight internodes during vegitative growth. It doubled in height between 12/12 and finish. The plant grew a very large top cola and a very thick stem; it needed no support. This plant was so loaded with trichomes that the buds looked pear ...continued

| Easy to grow, I couldn't kill it as hard as I tried. Good yield. Great smoke, quite potent. The couple other people who've had any have raved also.
I didn't get much taste on this grow, probably didn't flush long enough despite using organic flowering ferts. The first plant harvested at 58 ...continued
