  Breeder's Description - 'Northern Lights x Shiva'
Northern Lights crossed with Shiva creates wonderfully pungent sweet buds with bountiful THC. This plant has high flower to leaf ratio. NL/Shi has a bit spicier smoke when compared to Northern Lights and has a more complex buzz. This strain is a timeless classic. NL/Shi has a exotic aroma, is relatively easy to grow and clone.

Nirvana NLxShiva was a very nice variety to grow.
They branch out quite nicely and often "top" themselves somehow
just so they can grow more branches. This was very good for me and it
provided for a pretty decent yeild.

This was my first grow in 2001. NL x Shiva was a great place to start. The plants grew quickly and were very forgiving. I kept the pH around 6 - 6.2 (now I keep it lower). There was only a little diversity in phenotypes, all had fat, triangular leaves.

The males showed preflowers pretty early. I

Growers comment:

NL x Shiva was a very rewarding variety to grow. I would definately recomend this variety to anyone looking for positive, uplifting high and a smooth, spicy taste. I would also highly recomend this strain to those looking for relief from depression. I enjoyed growing and smoking this strain very much. I am sure to grow it again.

In the beginning......

I started 5 seeds out in cactus mix in a used sushii tray. I watered with Genesis micro base (uB) and Genesis Grow #2. Added a few drops of root hormone to seed sites. Seeds were on a heat mat under a 22W grow floro. 100% germination rate. PH 5.5 - 6.0

Transplanted to paper drinking cups with sphagnum grow mix around day 7. Transplanted to 6 inch pots at day 14.

Used FIM technique on all plants (day 18)

Vegitate.....

47 days from planting seeds till flowering. Used Genesis uB and grow #1 after first 14 days. These girls had no problem with 600 PPM nutes during veg stage. Plants around 10 inches. Flower.

Flower.......

Flowered girls between 49 and 56 days. Two males showed up early and were removed. No hermies. These girls loved thier nutes. My N1 plant demanded several waterings at 2400 PPM during bloom. I had to keep nutes at about 1600 PPM for most of the bloom period.

Of the three plants I had, there was quite a difference in the amount of stretching that went on during 12/12 cycle.

I had to put the shorter girls on pedastals to keep the canopy level.

Harvest and smoke............ : )

N1: This girls was a collossus. Finishing at 4 ft tall on day 49. This one had the least potent stone, but had the best buzz of all of my plants. I toked up a little of this smoke and was rewarded with a very positive and motivating high. The tase was soft with a hint of sandalwood. Very nice

N3: This girl finished at about 3 ft tall in 53 days. Very similar taste to N1. This one had a bit more of a mellow stone, but still quite uplifting. Really good party smoke.

N4: This girl finished the shortest of all at a mere 18". She only streched 10" during flower and finished last at day 56. Taste was great. High was similar to the other girls.

All girls were very trichome rich. The smaller fan leaves had trichomes coating them all the way up the stems and onto both sides of the leaf. Buds were quite sticky and very visually appealing.

This is the first time I have grown this strain. I really was not sure what to make of this strain, but due to the f'up in my room I needed to drop a few more seeds to max the sq footage.

I dropped 3 seeds into cubes, germed and then planted directly into 2g pots. At the same time I also had 6

3 seeds germinated and 1 was female. She was average size with tight internodes during vegitative growth. It doubled in height between 12/12 and finish. The plant grew a very large top cola and a very thick stem; it needed no support. This plant was so loaded with trichomes that the buds looked pear ...continued

Easy to grow, I couldn't kill it as hard as I tried. Good yield. Great smoke, quite potent. The couple other people who've had any have raved also.

I didn't get much taste on this grow, probably didn't flush long enough despite using organic flowering ferts. The first plant harvested at 58

This was my first real grow and I was amazed with every aspect of this plant. Extremely easy to grow, almost like it took care of itself. It loved nutes and was not over-sensitive. The foliage is a beautiful dark green.

In flowering the trichomes pack on excessively. There is a strong unique smel

I planted in late summer in the southern hemisphere, i lost most of the crop due to heat stress under my 400W HPS, but 2 survived, luckly they were both females, i hardly needed to attend them but i LST the one and left the other to grow natural for a side-by-side comparison, they didnt have much ti ...continued

Northern Lights x Shiva is not a new strain for me. I've grown 6 cycles with it which equals about a year of experience with it. The plant is very hardy and will put up with a good deal of abuse. The yield isn't quite up to par with some of the other NL strains I've had experience with but it will p ...continued
