Breeder's Description - 'Chronic' | | Our most commercial variety, this medium height, not too dense plant is the perfect combination of good yield and excellent quality. Smokers that know and grow choose this plant for its combination of appearance and sweet smell. With its indica background Chronic can produce up to 600 g/m2 without losing that connoisseur feeling. Grows a single huge central bud with few side branches. Do not top plants to encourage multiple big buds, as this strain does not respond well. Mild, sweet smell develops while flowering, take care to dry thoroughly after harvest (before packaging) to maintain this su ...continued

| Thirteen seeds germinated out of fifteen of which six were female. There were two phenotypes, both very similar. The first pheno is slightly taller than the second... what can I say, if you are growing Chronic, yield is what you are going to get. The smell is not OTT and is very sweet, rather nic ...continued

| Being my first grow, I gotta admit things didn't do things perfectly. 6/6 of the seeds germinated and grew into the vegitative stage equally as healthy. Only 1/6 however was female. These were grown in a small closet with little ventilation (only door open when the light was on).
The top cola was ...continued

| Chronic is one of my favorite strains. Very easy to grow from seed or clone, it loves high nutes and it’s a good yielder. I have been very happy with the results of this plant, my mother is a medium height plant that grows one main cola if left small which is ideal for SOG but the longer you let it ...continued

Grower Report - iamhorse on October 24, 2005, 1:08 am | Chronic from Serious Seeds rated 7.43 |
| The plants all germinated and received 8 females out of 15 seeds.
Plants grew fairly quick through veg and produced a deep hash scent. The plants varied slightly in their indica/sativa characteristics.
I had one plant that showed dominant indica, one dominant sativa, and six fairly mixed plants. It was these mixed varieties that produced the best combination of appearance and high. The sativa plant produced very large fluffy buds, while the indica had more side branching and tight dense buds.
The plants grew very easy and never really showed any signs of stress even with some extended periods of draught. By day 30 the crystal formation was extensive. Rumor made me beleive that this plant was only bred for yield and that potency and appearance had been relatively average. However, from the smell and appearance by day 45 I knew this would not be the case. They matured within 65-75 days depending on plant.
They were all grown in single cola, untopped and Chronic seemed to love that. I grew out one pheno in DWC and topped it and it did not seem to respond as well, however I still produced 5 ounces off the one plant.
By harvest time they were massive colas that were gleaming with resin. The many sample buds left me holding my breath waiting for a taste of a cured bud. After a two month cure, the buds were delicious.
The high of the plants was impressive. I found that the majority of the mixed plants gave an initial euphoric feeling followed by extreme hunger and a slight burnout. You could take a nap but it was not a serious knock-you-on-your-ass type of buzz. A very enjoyable daytime smoke in moderation. Most people were pleasantly surprised when they received Chronic as it is quite a bit more potent than the average commercial bud.
There were a great variation in the phenotypes, but look for an evenly mixed plant leaning more towards the indica side. These plants have an amazing yeild, with beautiful buds, and a potent high.
The only thing I was not thrilled about with this plant is that it does not meet up to the potency of some other strains I have grown, while it will still match most of the other strains you will most likely encounter. My main goal is to find the most potent strain, so this is why I am always looking. Some of the buds had a high leaf to calyx ratio as well, which should be avoided when picking a mother. Overall as a commercial strain it will be everything you would want and more. Don't let people tell you its lacking in potency or flavour. While not a tasty bubblegum, it does have a certain flavor that leaves you licking your lips after a joint.
